Insights into the pore structure characteristics of the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation shale in the Jiaoshiba area, Southern Sichuan Basin, China

Abstract In this paper, the pore structure characteristics of shales and its controlling factors were analyzed by means total organic carbon (TOC) analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD) field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) low-pressure N 2 adsorption (LPNA) analysis. Based on grey relational parameters discussed. The results showed that TOC contents range from 2.98 to 4.97%, main minerals are quartz clay with an average 41.62 30.98%, respectively. matter pores, interparticle intraparticle micro-fractures types determined FE-SEM observation. volume is between 0.0637 0.1053 cm 3 /g, specific surface area ranges 16.44 37.61 m size 11.20 15.50 nm. have a positive influence volume, whereas negative impact. wide size, mesopores macropores dominant contributor while mesoporous contribute area. most significant effect area, mainly controlled contents.
